My Story
Where to begin!? My Scentsy journey began in November of 2011. A friend of mine asked if I wanted to place an order through her Scentsy party. Scentsy? What is that?! I thought sure why not. I'll check it out. Well, little did I know, I was about to open a website that would change my life. I fell in LOVE. But before I go there, let's rewind a bit.
At the point of this invitation, I was newly married. Living in MN, 4.5 hours away from where I call home. In the midst of an economic recession, paying wayyyy too much for a 1 bedroom apartment in the suburbs of the Twin Cities. Money was tight to say the least. When I saw what Scentsy was, I knew instantly that it was something that I was going to be REALLY into. Who doesn't love their home to smell fantastic, without the worry of burning the place down by leaving a candle lit... which I was so guilty of VERY often. It got my gears a turnin. Now, I had been involved with a smattering of direct sales party planning businesses in the past, failing miserably at each one. Yet, the thought of, mayyyybe I could sell this stuff and make some money crept into my financial anxiety ridden mind. Maybe THIS would be the opportunity that would change our situation. Do I take the chance? Will my new husband think I am insane for trying ANOTHER direct sales business? Will my friends and family love it as much as I think I will? (Remember, I had never even smelled a Scentsy fragrance yet!) Well, being the risk taker I am, I jumped. I signed up to be a consultant with the $99 kit and set my sights on making this a successful business.
Fast forward a bit... In 2017 we welcomed a baby girl into our lives after 5 years of infertility. We were overjoyed, and that story is a whole other story. Well, with this little beauty in our lives, and money still tight, it made sense for me to stay home with her instead of paying daycare costs. (I was working as a nanny before she was born.) Scentsy allowed me to supplement our income while spending the first year of our daughter's life at home with her. Heaven. This also was the time that we decided that moving back to my hometown in Kaukauna, WI was the best option for our family.
In 2018 we decided that Abbi would be a great big sister, and with the journey taking so long with her, we decided that it was time to start planning for a sibling. Well, that happened MUCH quicker this time around, and we welcomed a bouncing baby boy in 2019. Again, I stayed home with the kids, supplementing our income with my Scentsy business. Until the world shut down from a global pandemic. I chose to utilize my college degree and took a job in the medical field to do what I could to help in our community. All the while, Scentsy stood constant for me.
As I am writing this, it is 2023, and those little babies aren't so little anymore! However, one thing has stayed the same. My love for Scentsy! It has brought me SO many opportunities that I would otherwise not have been able to experience. I have traveled to several different places, met some incredible people that will forever be my family, provided things for my family that I would never have dreamed I could, and grown so much as a person. The experiences I have had through Scentsy have built me into the woman I am. A mother, wife, daughter, leader, friend, and sister. I am so grateful for that one little Facebook message almost 12 years ago. It has definitely changed my life for the better!
